Commemoration of the 2024 World Environment Day

The activity was organized to commemorate the 2024 World Environment Day with the theme Land Restoration for Drought Resilience. Greenvest Environmental Initiative partnered with other organizations and stakeholders of like minds and vision to achieve a common good.

The activity started with a sensitization walk to create awareness on the impact of climate change to the public. The sensitization walk ended in a talk show at the Benue State Min. of Lands and Survey, where partner organizations and other participating stakeholders offered sensitization speeches and goodwill messages to advocate the need for deliberate, consistent and sustained action to forestall both man activities and natural happenings that are contribute to climate change effects.

Greenvest through the head of operations Mr. Jimengi Asan, as part of its message, provided insights into the key indicators of land degradation and climate change in Benue state, highlighting climate change impacts on; Land degradation, agriculture & Deforestation and a call for action. As part of its mandate to promote tree planting, Greenvest distributed 20 improved palm seedlings to each participating organization and other selected participants.

On the 6th Day of June, 2024, Greenvest continued its sensitization campaign in one of its project sites in Igbor community, Gwer East LGA in Benue State where the community members were mobilized and were provided sensitization and awareness on devastating effects of tree cutting and how it contributes to climate change.

Thus, encouraging the community members to imbibe the act of tree planting to make up for the lost vegetation. In order to support and encourage the community members in the act of tree planting, the organization distributed 192 each improved palm seedlings
